Scanner(s) is a semi-generative work I created a few years ago. It explores acoustic and physical resonances in acoustic spaces. Two lines moving to a destination, 2 additional lines moving towards multiples of that destination but never arriving, filtered field recordings (filtered with band pass filters whose center frequencies are in constant motion towards octaves of the destination but never arriving), the filters width and ‘Q’ are indeterminate and in a constant state of slow fluid change. Field recordings can be swapped with 2 live microphones placed in or out of the space.

This piece was never meant for headphones or computer speakers. It’s meant for large and small spaces played back through full range speakers 40hz minimum range at a comfortably loud volume. Objects vibrate and it’s different every time in every space... These are 4 images from 4 different versions with different destination frequencies. Moving inward or moving outward. (The two lines on the bottom)
The two top lines are run through a live manipulated delay (hence the shadowing lines)
